The R4D Sound Labs Capacitance Multiplier allows audio projects to be powered from low cost, off the shelf switching power supplies or AC/DC converters. With most of these types of devices, the max capacitance load rating is not high enough to filter the DC to suitable noise levels for most audio applications solely using capacitors. The Capacitance Multiplier can be used with single source power supply schemes or two of them can be used in a bipolar configuration. These boards can also be chained in series and/or additional capacitors can be used after the Capacitance Multiplier for additional filtering.

It is recommended that if an additional linear voltage regulator is used in conjunction with a switching power supply or an AD/DC converter that the Capacitance Multiplier be placed after the regulator. Tests with this arrangement reversed have resulted in the audio circuit’s noise floor being very high and unsuitable for professional use.

It is understood that before purchasing this product, the end user understands the risk of working with live voltages and is fully responsible for any and all results occurring from making incorrect decisions including but not limited to errors in connections, misplaced components, using capacitors with too low of a voltage rating, etc.
